Why Mirror Your Design for Sublimation?

Sublimation printing works by transferring dye from paper to a polyester-coated surface using heat and pressure. During the transfer process, the design is flipped face-down onto the substrate. When the heat press releases, your image appears in reverse. That's why you need to mirror your PDF first - so the final result reads correctly!

This is especially important for designs with text, numbers, logos, or directional elements. A mirrored design ensures everything appears the right way after transfer.

Quick Tip

Always do a test print on regular paper first. Hold it up to a mirror or against a window (backside facing you) to preview how your design will look after transfer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to create an account?

No! This tool is completely free and requires no signup. Just upload, mirror, and download.

Is my file secure?

Yes. Your files are automatically deleted from our servers after 1 hour. We don't store, share, or analyze your designs.

What's the difference between sublimation and iron-on transfers?

Sublimation uses special dye that turns into gas under heat and bonds permanently with polyester-coated surfaces. Iron-on transfers use a printed layer that adheres to fabric. Both typically require mirroring, but sublimation produces more durable, vibrant results on compatible materials.

Can I mirror an image file instead of PDF?

This tool is specifically for PDFs. If you have a JPG or PNG, you can convert it to PDF first using a free converter, or use an image editing tool to flip it.

My printer already has a mirror option. Should I use both?

No! Use either this tool OR your printer's mirror setting, but not both. Mirroring twice will give you the original (non-mirrored) result.

Why is my sublimation print coming out backwards?

If your design is backwards after pressing, you likely forgot to mirror before printing (or mirrored twice). Use this tool to flip your PDF, then print without any additional mirror settings in your printer driver.
